My World, Be It Ever So Humble
Oh, the exciting life I lead (zzzzzz)....things have been....um (zzzzzz)....slow lately, thus not much to post about. Let see what can I dig up? Ok......... I received my first issue of the most awesome Bicycling Magazine which I got a free subscription to when I joined the League of American Bicyclists (or was it the League of Extraordinary Gentleman? :) ). I joined the league at the suggestion of AssMaster Guinass couple of months ago when preparing for my trip to San Diego because league members bikes fly free on America West airlines. I really glad I joined, this is a great organization for cyclists to get involved with. Here's a little blurb from their site:

Our Mission: To promote bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation and work through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America.

We do this by: Representing the interests of the nation's 57 million cyclists. With a current membership of 300,000 affiliated cyclists, including 40,000 individuals and 600 affiliated organizations, the League works to bring better bicycling to your community.

If you care about bicycling, become a League member today.

A Proud and Rich History

The League was founded as the League of American Wheelmen in 1880. Bicyclists, known then as "wheelmen", were challenged by rutted roads of gravel and dirt and faced antagonism from horsemen, wagon drivers, and pedestrians.

In an effort to improve riding conditions so they might better enjoy their newly discovered sport, over 100,000 cyclists from across the United States joined the League to advocate for paved roads. The success of the League in its first advocacy efforts ultimately led to our national highway system.

Let's see.....what else is up....Oh YA., I have been totally sucked into Blizzards new MMOG (that's Massive Mutliplayer Online Game to you less geeky types :) ) World of Warcraft. They should have called it World of WarCRACK!!!! This game soooo rocks and can easily suck in hours, no make that days of you life. If I don't post again for 18 months, that's where I'll be......

  Is It Thursday Already??
I'm such a lazy shit! I've been meaning to post since Monday but....well you know how it goes. Last Friday, I finally got my bike computer back from Shimano (they actually gave me a brand new one!!). This of course coincided with the first snow of the year here in these parts........yup,freakin' perfect timing!! So now my bike's all dressed with nowhere to go. Maybe we'll still get a few freakishly warm days. One can only hope.

On the geekier side of things, my longtime friend and fellow gamer, Jam Master J - The Jackhammer of Love, sent me a link to an article on D&D which I thought was great. Here's a snippit:
Dungeons and Dragons was a not a way out of the mainstream, as some parents feared and other kids suspected, but a way back into the realm of story-telling. This was what my friends and I were doing: creating narratives to make sense of feeling socially marginal. We were writing stories, grand in scope, with heroes, villains, and the entire zoology of mythical creatures. Even sports, the arch-nemesis of role-playing games, is a splendid tale of adventure and glory. Though my friends and I were not always athletically inclined, we found agility in the characters we created. We fought, flew through the air, shot arrows out of the park, and scored points by slaying the dragon and disabling the trap.

Yes It's true, I am a D&D geek.....but proud of it damn it!! I ran a campain from 1982-1986. Ah, those were the days, when I actually had time to put into something fun.......

  Sucker Punched
So there I was, doing the slow crawl down route 93s this morning, thinking about this slightly disturbing dream I had last night. In the dream, I was living my life for the second time, but was aware of how events had unfolded the first time through. This time though, things weren't going as well; I wasn't quite at the right place at the right time, so events didn't end up happening; I didn't end up meeting people I was supposed to meet and things just spiraled down out of control (psych majors can now feel free to go nuts on my ass).

So, this got me thinking about the nature of existence and what happens when we die; and then it hit me like a spike to my brain stem (not James Marsters mind you): This is REALLY going to happen TO ME someday. It's not just some intellectual abstract that may or may not be proven; I WILL KNOW..one way or another what the real deal is. You may be saying "well duh! Did you think you were Duncan McLeod or something?" (you know, like immortal). Of course intellectually I know we all die sooner or later, but it never really hit me emotionally like this before.

I remain stunned and pensive........

  Batting my Eyelashes

I saw this quiz on Kim's Lilypad and the heinous results on Cindy Lou's site so I figured I give it a whack. Whack is right...I'm still laughing.....inside anyway.....a little....prehaps more of a snicker (not the candy bar)....

You represent... naivete.
You represent... naivete.
So innocent and trusting... you can be very shy at
times, but it's only because you're not sure
how to act. You give off that "I need to
be protected vibe." Remember that not all
people are good. Being too trusting will get
you easily hurt.

What feeling do you represent?
