Stuff and More Stuff
My bike is in the shop all week getting all of the work done to make it (and me) happy again. This is perfect timing seeing as after last Monday's ride, I haven't been feeling too spiffy. Not really sure what's up. I went out on Sunday the 17th and did 30 mile and felt great. Went out the next night and did 21 miles and felt like total ass. My lungs are feeling all messed up again and for the rest of the night after that ride I was feeling way light headed. This does not thrill me and as a matter of fact concerns me a little.
But, on a happier note, the band was in the studio again this weekend and things couldn't have gone better. Mad props to Heather for really stepping up to the plate and coming up with some awesome backup vocal ideas! I ask everyone to please offer up a frozen ham to her in tribute. So, everything is now recorded and it's time for the mix. I'm as giddy as a little school girl:)

No Bike for You !
It's spring, which seems to seems herald the crushing of my hopes to get a new bike. I was hoping to get my Cervelo Soloist this year, I really was. I thought I had it all worked out. I was gonna have the guys at International Cycles in Newton put one together for me. I was going with Ultegra parts instead of the standard Dura Ace to save a few scheckels. But, I got the call yesterday; turns out that it's even MORE expensive to put the bike together than just go with the factory set up. Either way, It puts the bike out of my somewhat limited financial reach....SIGH.
So, plan B. I'm going to replace the Tiagra drive train on my Cannondale with 105 parts, get new shoes and a new saddle and hope for the best. I really do like my C'dale. But, when I bought it four years ago, it wasn't properly fitted to me and as a result, it one size too big. This has really started reeking havoc with my lower back. Hopefully, one more season won't do me in......

I Feel Better than James Brown...I Feel Better Now
Yesterday was absolutely perfect for cycling; 71*, dry, not a cloud in the sky. Buzz & I did a nice little 16 mile circuit around Bedford, Carlisle & Concord. Nothing too heroic, just a quick ride to blow the cobwebs out and get the blood pumping. I was really worried what kind of shape my lungs were going to be in after my week long case of
Mojo Monkey Finger, or what ever it was I had. But all is well, I felt great.
This past Winter, there were honestly times when I questioned my devotion to cycling. Being out there yesterday refreshed my memory as to why I love it so much; why it is my religion....

At Last..
Well we did it! Under Adams finally started recording our first CD! Here's a picture of us hard at work at OMS studios in Braintree MA. Pictured are (L-R) Brian"the Yak" of One Ton Post -Engineer, Steve - Guitars, Heather - Vocals, Drummer Davie D, PunkAss - Bass, Johnny P - Keys, Bob -Engineer and Studio owner. Things are progressing nicely. We have Drums, Bass & Keys done on the 5 songs we're recording. The next step will be to get all the guitars and vocals down. Bob & brian were super nice and kept things flowing smoothly.
This experience made me realize just how much I miss engineering or just being around the recording process.
Blah!
I really really hate being sick. Last week I got my ass kicked by the worst bug I can remember since high school. I actually spent Monday - Wednesday IN BED! I had the worst dry hacking cough I can conceive of; so bad it felt like I had broken ribs and ruptured internal organs. Riding shotgun with the cough was a wonderful 103* fever that would not let go. Now, I'm never sick so this really pissed me off. I just messes with your whole life. I didn't want to play WoW, Didn't care if I ever saw a bike again, Didn't want to listen to music -none of it.
Fortunately I am about 95% back and have started to regain use of my brain once again. So, sorry for the absence, updates on the recording to come.......
