Punk Ass: Biker, Zen Stress Monkey
Punkus Ex Machina
This post brought to you by the letter G!
G is for Gear.. Gear is Good...Gear makes me Giddy. It's true, I've always been a gearhead. Back in Jr. High and High School I was On the AV crew (does that not just scream GEEEEK!!). My first real after school job was working at the town library as an AV Page. So whether it's computer innards, the new Shimano Dura-Ace 10 Speed, a new bass amp by SWR or what class ship is zipping across the screen on any of the Star Treks; You know I'm diggin' it!! I know there must be more like minded individuals out there..somewhere. So if any of you happen to read my blog and want to know about
my gear, here's the poop:
What I Ride On:
I currently ride a Yellow 2002
Cannondale R500. I've replaced the stock Conty Ultra 3000 with Michelin Axial Carbons since I was getting way too may flats. With the Michelin's I'm happy to report I've gone over 2000 miles with 0 flats. Also this week I got rid of the stock Tiagra front derailleur and replaced it with a 105 since the original hadn't worked right since I bought the bike...now it shifts like buddah!! This should hold me over 'till I get my new
R3000 this summer.
What I Play On:
In the Bass Dept. I play a 4 string
Warwick Thumb Bass. In my rack I have a GK 800RB, Line 6 Bass Pod Pro and a Symetrix 501 compressor. This is all plugged into 2 Joes cabs loaded with EV Prolines: a 2x10 and a 1x15.
What I Frag On:
My computer rig is a Asus K8VSE Deluxe married to a AMD Athlon(64) XP 3400+, 1Gig of Corsair DDR400, ATI 9800Pro 128Mb Video, Creative Audigy sound card and a 20" SGI Monitor.
So, that's my deal in the world of gear....damn I love this stuff!
In and Around the Lake...
The team went out for a great 31.7 mile traing ride in my neck of the woods yesterday. The weather was great except for a nasty head wind which, since I was on point for alot of the route, was not digging. We rode out through West Andover, around Haggetts Pond, down through Ballardvale, then out into North Andover, around Lake Cochichewick and finally back down Rte 125 and into Andover. There was a good turn out for this ride: in attendence were Clones Team Captain Joe (Guin-Ass), Eric (GP Ass), Rachel (Buzz-Ass), the first appearence this season by Meng (Red Ass) and Newbie Carol (who BTW did a great job outh there!). What's with the Ass names? Trust me. I'll get to it :)
I feel like I'm starting to get my wind back and my legs seem to not have lost too much go-go juice over the winter. This is good news seeing as my first charity ride of the year, the
MS Tour of the Vineyard is coming up this Saturday!
First Post!!
Hello! Welcome! Hazzah!! I'm Punk Ass Biker. Yes, I can see those question marks over your heads
..."Why Punk Ass?" Well, it's a long story which I promise to get to soon. For now I just wanted to give you some quick 411 as to who I am. I'm a cyclist, a bass player & overall techno geek. By day I play the part of IT guy at a software company in Massachusetts. By Night & Weekend, I'm a member of the Biogen Cycling team the
Rolling Clones and Bass Player for the band
Under Adams.
Along with the rest of the
"Clones", I do 4 or 5 charity rides for the National MS Society every year. I've been meaning to start a blog for some time to share my adventures on the road and other assorted weirdness but never quite got over the initial inertia. So, with a swift kick in the butt and much help from my friend
rogueslayerlawstudent here I am!! So stay tuned.. more to come soon......really................there WILL be more.........sooon...........
