You MUST Listen...
Have you ever bought a CD, listened to it once then put it away, only to rediscover it a few months later and go "Oh My God, This F'Ing ROCKS! Why have I not been listening to this?!" This just happened to me with
The Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium. This album is pure genius. The only way I can describe these guys is as follows: Imagine that the members of Yes had there consciousnesses transplanted in the bodies of younger, hipper musicians who had never done Acid. While in the funkifyed fugue state which follows, they are put into a steel cage match with Geddy Lee and Carlos Santana that's refereed by Thelonius Monk.
I honestly haven't been this excited about discovering a band since Steve, the guitarist in my band, turned me on to
Porcupine Tree. If you're feeling daring and want to listen to some well crafted music that you won't hear on the radio (most of the songs are over six minutes), you should, nay you MUST check these guys out. Their new album,
Frances the Mute just dropped yesterday and I'm still tracking my way through it ..So far...AWESOME.
